“Open Road” – Brand New Single from The Rival

by Will Hodge Published Dec 12, 2012

Although The Rival is a brand new band with a brand new record, chances are you’ve probably already heard a song or two of theirs somewhere in the past few months. If you’re one of the legions of Apple fans who watched the iPad Mini unveiling event this past October, their thumping first single “Run Run” was used to soundtrack the iPhone 5 launch day video that was played there. You may have also caught their soaring sounds via various MLB, NFL and NASCAR coverage or even in Amway’s latest commercials. If you’ve somehow missed all that though, The Rival has just released their self-titled debut album and they’re currently offering their new single “Open Road” for free here on NoiseTrade.

The Rival is comprised of Allen Salmon and Phillip LaRue, two accomplished songwriter/producers who have joined forces to create the pulsing, atmospheric, guitar-driven pop rock heard on their debut release. Featuring chiming guitars, crystal clear vocals, ethereal sonic spaces and a big sing-a-long chorus, “Open Road” is a wonderful song on its own and a great representation of the rest of the album.

Here’s a quick little behind-the-scenes video from Phillip and Allen featuring a bit of the recording of “Open Road” as well:
